SpaceEngine enables the user to control the flow of time, making noticeable planetary rotation and orbital motion, or allowing slow-motion observation of even the fastest-spinning neutron stars. Time can be sped up, slowed down, reversed, paused, or set to a specific date. Pressing the [L] key accelerates time to 3, 10, 30, 100, 300, etc. times normal speed. The [K] key slows time down to 0.3, 0.1, 0.03, 0.01, 0.003, etc. times normal speed. The [J] key reverses the flow of time. The [Space] bar stops and resumes time. The [\] (backslash) key restores time to its normal (real-time) flow rate. [Ctrl]+[\] sets the current time to the computer's system clock time. All commands for controlling time are also available in the lower-left toolbar. The time can also be set to an exact date in the toolbar by clicking on the current time and typing a new date.
