Appendix 1: Greek Letters and Constellation Abbreviations
Greek letters are entered into SpaceEngine using two- or three-letter abbreviations. These are used when searching for objects in SpaceEngine and when making catalog scripts and database entries. These abbreviations are replaced by the actual Greek letter when its name is displayed in the program. For example, if you name an object "RHO Larenis" in a catalog or database script (including in the wiki window), its name will display in SpaceEngine as "ρ Larenis".
Constellation names in SpaceEngine also use three-letter abbreviations. When searching for a star in SE by its Bayer or Flamsteed designation, type the abbreviation of its Greek letter and constellation name instead of spelling them. So when searching for α Centauri, type "ALF Cen" into the search box. Greek letters
