|I was messing around in SpaceEngine and looking at the orbit of a planet and something occurred to me: it would be helpful to see where the apsides of the orbit are. |
I think that there should be an option in a future version of SpaceEngine for "Advanced Orbit Labels", which when activated would show markers on orbits for apsides and nodes.
So for example, Mercury's orbit would look something like this:
Where the solid square is descending node, hollow square is ascending node, solid circle is periapsis, and hollow circle is apoapsis.
It shouldn't look exactly like this, this is just an example to show what I mean.

|That's a good idea, it would be interesting and useful to be able to see the nodes and peri- and apoapsis. The nodes would help with finding transits and eclipses.
