This would be impossible, and even if it were possible it would require terabytes of space just to describe the types and positions of all stars in a decent sized galaxy.
Your response basically confirms what I've suspected, that the placement algorithm requires only the seed to create the same arrangement of stars and the same planets in a system. I mean, how else would the program be able to maintain the systems and star placements without storing them on a disk.
Hence I reiterate my desire to get my hands on the source code for the star placement algorithm. Failing that, put all the functionality into a DLL or Linux Shared Object so I can use it for my purposes.
