I'll second the above comments on the banding effect. I wasn't even expecting you or anyone else to ever try to fix that since it's sort of an inevitable consequence of finite color depth.
You, sir, are a sorcerer. biggrin

I would really appreciate some input/advice regarding a light/shadow bug I posted in the ships created with SE ship editor thread.
Just scroll down to :

to see the description.

I don't know if it is related directly with SE or it is limitaion/bug within the ship editor or combination of both.

I am using SE 0974 latest available patch (04), latest Nvidia official drivers, win7x64
If se.log is required I am not in my SE PC atm but I can post it later in the evening if required, thank you.

It is bug in SE. May be Spaceengineer can correct it.

After installing the 0.9.7.3 over the 0.9.7.2 (unpacking the .3 archive into the .2 folder), I continued to have problems in launching the program. The issue is the famous compatibility bug related to xp: EnumSystemLocaleEx - KERNELL32.dll.
I've reported it in the appropriate section.

But why am I writing here?
Because I decided to install the version 0.9.7.4 over the not working 0.9.7.3 and the KERNELL32.dll problem is still present.

So I am signaling an xp compatibility issue which is still present in the 0.9.7.4 version (if there's nothing wrong with my computer).

When I go like a light-year near a black hole system, my camera goes completely out of control.

When I go like a light-year near a neutron star, it doesn't show up at all even when I go straight to the surface.

I'm now scared to play SpaceEngine. I really want to play it again but I feel uncomfortable with the black holes and neutron stars.

Not swamps per se, apparently, but there does seem to be something not quite right in the intersection of a swamp and a river, at least in this image. I haven't come across something like this myself.

They let me use this!

Updates for ships.

Orbits for space ships are fixed now. Automatic simulatoin/orbit mode will be forced. This mean that when no engines are firing, no atmosphere drag, and ship's orbit is stable (inside planet's sphere of influence and didn't intersect its atmosphere and surface), physics will switch to analytic Kepler orbits (as used by planets). If engines are working or air drag is present, physics will switch back to simulation, and orbit parameters are recalculated each tick.

Useful points of orbit are displayed now: apoapsis and periapsis (filled and empty circle), descending and ascending node (filled and empty square), ship's position (rombus).

Time to the next periapsis and aposapsis passage is displayed now (to the right, in orbital parameters table.)

Ability to select the reference body to show orbit and velocity parameters is restored also.
