Thats pretty useful, but I think a semi transparent view would be better than a full switch, especially if you are playing an intense game.

| I'm getting an Oculus Rift DK2 this weekend, and would appreciate any tips on setup with Space Engine. I've installed the latest SE patch 0.9.7.4 R8. Has it been updated with current Oculus Rift runtime? Or do I need to install an older version as well?
Is there another thread with SE tips for VR?

| Sorry if this has been answered already, but when I use the Oculus rift (Dk2) planets and galaxies, stars and others are flashing. I do have the latest drivers installed. And here's the log if it helps.
Edit: I found the solution, Deleting the atioglxx.dll file.

Yes latest beta works with 0.8 runtime. Main tips are: reduce planet LOD to experience smooth gameplay (it is better to see less detailed terrain than having headache after 3 minutes of playing), use gamepad to control your movements and never use it or mouse to control your rotation. If you want to turn around, close your eyes to do this - this will help to avoid nausea.
I usually use this bindings of gamepad buttons and sticks (F8 menu, Camera controls panel): Left stick: move forward/back and left/right Right stick: turn up/down and left/right Left trigger/right trigger - turn CW/CCW Left button pan - move up/down and left/right A/B - decrease/increase speed X/Y - prev/next speed preset Left side button - select object with a joystick (binded on the Common controls panel in F8 menu) right side button - orbit object with a joystick (binded on the Common controls panel in F8 menu) Back - center selected object Start - go to selected object Big "X" button - rotate horizontally

| tylercshear, which version of SE are you running? According to SpaceEngineer, the latest 0.9.7.4 beta release works with the 0.8 runtime.

| I just got an Oculus DK2 and it runs very nicely with SE 0.9.7.4 R8 with the Oculus runtime 0.8 out of the box. Added (02.02.2016, 21:08) --------------------------------------------- You do need to go to Settings->Display and select the "Stereoscopic 3D" setting to "Oculus Rift". Just make sure you turn this same setting to "Off" when you are done so you can use it like normal on your desktop next time you start SE.

| After seeing this, I think they'll go nowhere near to penetrate the newborn market. I think I'll wait for an opensource, less shady VR software/hardware scenery.

| I just received my Oculus Rift CV and have enabled "Unknown Sources" in the settings, but I'm getting the error Oculus Rift HMDnot found, or Oculus Runtime version is not 0.8 when I select it in my graphics settings.
Is SE CV ready or is that still in the works?

Still can't decide should i pull the trigger on CV.
Just curious, now after trying it for some time, do you think is it worth the investment?Added (13.05.2016, 16:39) ---------------------------------------------
Quote franktaylor ( ) I just got an Oculus DK2 and it runs very nicely with SE 0.9.7.4 R8 with the Oculus runtime 0.8 out of the box. I am super curious how's the depth perception involving planets? I.e. when you're 10000 km from Earth, does it actually pop up against the starry background? Do you have a feeling it's really there?
