Actually, the whole is not based on the idea of a super civilization, but on the 'Hollow Earth hypothesis', as in the novel 'Pellucidar'.

How there the problem of over heating is solved, I do not know, since I have not read the novel. Probably is it not discussed.
Of course, that's not a fusion reactor in the middle, but a completely normal miniature sun.

(I started the Roman once, and maybe I'll sometimes read it over, but there is to do so many other things ... dry )
