Thank you so much Spacer smile
Today I have been observing a ringed giant and his molten moon. This is the result:

Nice pictures! smile What type of star? O or B? What's the RS number for that system?

Thanks.
The planet is RS 0-2-14-756-12678-5-10257-125 8 as seen the 18th of September 2824 biggrin
It really has nothing spetial. The molten moon illuminates the planet quite a lot so it generates interesting scenes with light. Is the first planet I encountered with this on SE but I now have seen that this is completely normal. The last image is quite confusing: it has been taken with very tiny FOV, and depicts the molten moon proyecting the rings shadows over four layers of athmosphere of the planet.

I came across a star whose orbit would bring it inside of a carbon star, and I thought it looked pretty cool. This is from 0.9.7.1.

I'm casually floating through the Solar System when suddenly...

A mysterious light appears!

I approach closer (to 30000 km) to find the light is both very bright and very small...

Coming even closer, I find the silhouette of asteroid Ida against the tiny, tiny star...

It's its satellite Dactyl, deliciously crispy at 30x the temperature of the Sun's core! It makes for an extremely bright little orbital sun for the asteroid. Its light disappears beyond about half an AU, even though it still has magnitude -9.68 from Earth. In fact, at 1938 AU (the greatest distance I still get a magnitude reading at), it's still got an apparent magnitude of 3.76.

I like the new version. Space engine runs well on my computer, but volumetric lights (evaporating stars...) seems to be VERY GPU expensive.

And an opposition effect :

The shadows at the antisolar point (opposite to the sun relatively to the observer) tends to be shorter, so it gives the illusion that this area is brighter.
Looks like this in real life :

What evaporating stars? What volumetric lights?

It's not an illusion, it really is brighter when seen from a near-zero phase.

I think he is talking about particle effects which really need some work because they significantly drop perfomance at this version.
